As I close my eyes, I can actually smell the damp earth in the spring readying herself for the bounty that will be mine through persistence and patience. I feel the dirt crumbling in my hands as I plant the seedlings that I nurtured inside my home. I can feel the sweat rolling off my face as I labor on my hands and knees. Making straight rows, digging deep holes, and mounding my vining plants. Mother Earth is the promise of spring after a long hard winter. Hope for another season of life sustaining crops that she gives to us, her supplicants. Mother Earth also means gratitude for me. Grateful for this renewing of my spirit and being and that I can be here for another season of growth and nurturing.
